The start of day 28 brings us to a reminder of what’s ahead – only another 269km to Karumba.
It’s all smiles from Andy, at least, and it’s another lovely day…
There’s a few more km’s ahead of single lane roads, and Rick is up to his shenanigans with his super soaker!
It looks like the termites are active here… quite an amazing sight! We’re chewing through the km’s now.
It’s a hot, but relatively easy day, as we get to Warren Vale Station earlier than expected! It’s an amazing settlement, with all of the mod-cons of a small township. It’s nice to have freshly mown grass to camp on too! As is usual out here, it’s a beautiful sunset to cap off a nice day riding.
It’s starting to seem like the pack-up each morning is getting easier, and before we know it in the morning we’re off to Normanton.
We have a bit of fun today, knowing it’s our second last day. It’s not far to Karumba now, and the chatter and excitement is steadily growing.
Normanton is a nice little town, and in usual style, has some random trivia set into the main street of the town. (in this case, a rather large crocodile…(apparently this is a life size representation – of the croc, not Andy that is…!)
We brave the infamous Purple Pub, before retiring to the pool at the caravan park for a swim before dinner.
Dinner is fish and chips in the Albion Hotel, and there’s going to be a few sore heads tomorrow, with a few of the group hitting the town on the end – 1 day!
